Walking the length of the South Island, raising fund for Fair Foods - on a mission to feed people, not landfills!
Auckland
Kia Ora, my name is John and I'm about to head out on an adventure and could use your help!
This summer I will be hanging up my boots, putting on my trail runners, grabbing my backpack and walking the length of the South Island on the Te Araroa. Which translates to "The Long Path" a thru hike running from Cape Reinga to Bluff.
I will be walking a total of 1,300KM over a period of two to three months, along the way I will be raising funds for Fair Foods, a food rescue charity on a mission to feed people, not landfills!
Fair Food acts as a connector between businesses with surplus of good food and those in need. In May 2021, they redistributed 41,000 kilos of food. That's nearly 120,000 meals for free to the many community groups including family violence teams, women’s refuges, homeless, mental health and teen-parenting agencies.
Being a nimble, lean, well-run service, Fair Food is able to rescue and redistribute three meals for a $1!
I'm hoping to raise $1 for every kilometer of the southern leg of the Te Araroa, totaling $1,300. All proceeds will be used by Fair Foods to rescue and redistribute a staggering 3,900 meals to the many Kiwis in need.
I'm willing to walk the many kilometers needed and happy throw in some change as well, however I cannot reach this goal without your help! If you are in a position to help, I would love your support!
