3000KM Down NZ for NZ

We're a young couple planning to walk 3000KM on the Te Araroa Trail whilst raising money for conservation in New Zealand.

Nationwide

The two of us are keen trampers who have become completely immersed in what New Zealand has to offer. We have such a rich natural environment which we value above all else. We are sure anyone who has spent time in the NZ outdoors can appreciate the beauty just as much as us, which is why we've decided to walk the Te Araroa trail.

We intend for the trail to take us 5-6 months, in which time we will experience the natural wonder which is NZ. This wouldn't be possible without massive conservation efforts being undertaken by many organisations who feel the same way about our country as we do.

The most prominent problems that face our native Flora and Fauna today are pests, invasive plants and pollution. These issues all take such a toll on our environment - we see ever decreasing numbers of birdlife, and natural flora as well as contaminated waterways in areas where conservation is lacking.

We thought seeing as NZ is going to provide so much for us as we walk our journey from Cape Reinga to Bluff, we'd like to give back as much as possible by encouraging you to support the charity NZ Forest and Bird.

NZ Forest and Bird are the oldest conservation charity in New Zealand, founded in 1923. To read more about their conservation efforts go here: http://www.forestandbird.org.nz
