'Aoife May and Friends Walk with a Purpose' fundraising for the construction of a spring well in Uganda.

Christchurch, Canterbury

On the 19th of November, Aoife May Crosby will be joined by her year 6 friends as they 'Walk with a Purpose' raising funds to make a significant and life saving difference in the lives of others.

The money raised by Aoife May and her friends, from their 'Fountain of Peace NZ - Walk with a Purpose' will go towards the construction of a spring well, which will provide over 50 families and two schools access to clean water, in the extremely impoverished area of the Kyenjojo District in Uganda.

Aoife May will be leaving her home in Northwood at 6 am to walk 10 km. She will be joined by friends as they walk to their Selwyn House School in Merivale, where they will arrive in time to start the school day. The distance these students will be walking represents the distance some children in Uganda walk to collect water for their families each day.

The heart of the 'Aoife May and Friends Walk with a Purpose' is that these students can come together for something much bigger than themselves, to make a lasting difference in the lives of others. Together with your support they would love to reach their goal.

A huge thank you for your generous support towards Aoife May and her friends Fountain of Peace NZ - Walk with a Purpose in November last year. Because of your support, the girls were very excited to exceed their goal and in April this year, the spring well was built. This picture shows the new spring well the day it was handed over to the community. Having access to clean water has been life-changing for everyone in this community. Aoife May said that doing the ‘Walk With a Purpose’ was a great opportunity to make a tangible difference to families in a part of the world that is struggling with major poverty. Well done to Aoife May and her friends and to all of you who supported them in achieving this incredible outcome!
