'Bald Is Beautiful'

$6,115 of $10,000 goal
Given by 100 generous donors in 11 weeks

9 girls, shaving their heads to fundraise for Breast Cancer NZ, promote Cancer awareness and prove that you don't need hair to be beautiful.

Nationwide

This Month, we, Alanah, Holly, Claudia, Nicole, Celine, Juliet, Le, Sophie, and Georgia are shaving our heads to show our support for Women who suffer from Breast Cancer. Our goal is to raise 10,000 dollars to donate to the Breast Cancer foundation NZ and raise Cancer awareness. We want to show people that our hair doesn't define us, that bald is beautiful.

'By shaving we’re not only raising money but also awareness to help people get through the tough times. The day we shave our head will be a day that we will never forget. A day where seven girls will put their looks and judgement aside to unmask and act upon a global issue.' (Nicole)

'It took me a long time to finally decide to shave all my hair off for cancer, I am grateful for all my friends and peers, without them I never would’ve had the guts to do this. I understand and believe that me and these 8 other girls’ contributions can make this world a better place. Our goal is to help cancer patients and their families, and to also promote the message that you don’t need hair to be beautiful, you just need you.' (Holly)

'I want to be able to help the community so that more people have the same story as my grandma, and can say that they conquered cancer. Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Foundation are amazing causes helping women that are suffering around New Zealand. I would like to support them through tough times and give them the support they need to fight cancer.' (Celine)

People don’t choose to get cancer and women especially don’t choose to lose their hair. To some, hair is their crown they permanently wear. Yes I love my hair, but I would like to give it to someone who is much deserving of hair. This is my way of helping.' (Claudia)

I know that I don’t need my hair to be beautiful. Fundraising money to help cancer sufferers and supporting these incredibly brave women is so much more beautiful. It should be our actions that make us beautiful not our hair. (Georgia)

I want to shave my head for Cancer because I want to save a life. I want to do this because my hair doesn’t define who I am. There are so many unfair standards surrounding women, that we are supposed to have long healthy hair, but some women don’t get this option. Cancer patients don’t choose when they lose their hair and it’s hard for them, I want to show them that they’re not alone. (Alanah)

There are people around me that have been suffered from cancer so I want to help them to survive from cancer. (Le)

By giving my hair I am able to support one of my best friends who has a close family member suffering from cancer. They aren’t alone all 10 of us are here to support those who have and those who are impacted by cancer. (Sophie)
