Bringing Hope at Christmas - Walk with a Purpose

In the lead up to Christmas it is heartbreaking to know that not everyone will be receiving gifts and wholesome food to eat on Christmas Day.

With schools still closed in Uganda due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation school students have been in lock-down since March. Families in this very impoverished rural area, who would normally survive on an income of $22 per month have been faced with market places being closed, unaffordable inflation, on top of children no longer being able to receive the bowl of porridge that they relied on at school through the Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation feeding programme. Each day is a brutal struggle to survive.

Money raised through this fundraising walk will go directly to providing a Christmas care package for 220 school families and beneficiaries, to bring them hope and food for survival at this very special time of year. Our goal is to raise NZ$5500 which will provide each of these vulnerable families with a 10 kg bag of rice (a luxury item) worth $25 each. If we reach our target, every extra dollar will be used for further much needed community support.

For this Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation NZ, 'Bringing Hope at Christmas - Walk with a Purpose', friends and families around the world will be fundraising through being sponsored to walk around 10 km in their local community sometime between now and Christmas Day. This represents the distance some of our Fountain of Peace school students in Uganda walk to and from their school each day when school is operating, and is also the distance some families will walk to receive these care packages.
