I am chopping my 40cm ponytail off to raise money for Immune Deficiencies Foundation of New Zealand on the 30th April 2015
Nationwide
This fundraiser is to raise money and awareness for the Immune Deficiencies Foundation of New Zealand (IDFNZ). This Foundation does alot of great work by;
Offering Hope to families facing life-threatening medical disorders:via SUPPORT, INFORMATION,FAMILY LINKING.
Offering RESPITE facilities for stressed families to recuperate together in a healing tranquil environment.
And they promote AWARENESS of early warning signs and providing free medical education resources and events for medical professionals to facilitate EARLY DIAGNOSIS , TREATMENT and MAXIMUM QUALITY OF LIFE.
Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID) is considered to be the most serious group of primary immune deficiency disorders (PID), recognised as a paediatric emergency and potentially fatal.
I would like awareness raised for SCID as a simple heal prick test as a new born could save the lives of babies born with SCID. Early diagnosis and medical intervention (before infections occur) has been proven to lead to better outcomes – scientists and immunologists have collaborated to develop an effective newborn screening test to identify SCID as part of the routine Guthrie screening tests performed on new born babies .
Unfortunately New Zealand babies are not screened for SCID yet but you can help by spreading the word about SCID and the simple test that can save lives of vulnerable babies born with this silent , life threatening condition.
My hair that is being chopped off will be donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths to make free wigs for women affected by hair loss from cancer.

I'm involved in this cause because a good friend of mine has a wee boy with SCID. I have never had short hair so when i starting thinking maybe i should give it a go i thought why not try and raise some money for a good cause. Because there is so much of it I'm also donating the 40cm of hair that will be cut off to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, they make awesome free wigs for cancer patients.
