Emergency Services to tackle a 24 hour relay run, helping those in essential need for mental health assistance.
Rolleston, Canterbury
A small team consisting of Police, St John, Fire and Emergency and NZ Defense Force will complete a 24 hour relay run for the fantastic "I Am Hope' foundation.
From 12pm Saturday 12 Feb until 12pm Sunday 13 Feb, all participants will be running 3 x 1 hour blocks over a 17 hour period each. For the majority, this will be the longest/most they have ever run. Two extra Police staff will also be aiming to run all 24 hours. All of those running have, in some way, been affected by suicide or mental health in our day to day roles, and although this may be a challenge for some of us, it's nothing compared to what our young people face every day. We're all extremely proud to be running for such a great charity.
And we're done.... 13 February 2022
Whanau! What a massive effort. 407km run by our main 9 runners, including 171km from one almighty legend! Plus the extra kms that our supporters put in beside us. We are so appreciative of all our generous donors and you have blown us all away with over $5000 raised! That's over 36 counseling sessions for our young people. You bloody legends!
