I'm running to help fundraise and raise awareness about EWBNZ - the New Zealand branch of Engineers without borders - here in Christchurch. EWBNZ is a charitable organisation that aims to help developing communities here and around the pacific. EWBNZ focuses on providing education and engineering knowledge to communities. Working with communities is a key part of the process, as opposed to simply providing them with prepackaged "solutions".
I plan on running the 10km run this time (maybe I can manage more next year!).
