I am raising funds to buy Christmas presents for the children in the Starship Child Cancer Ward in Auckland and in New Plymouth hospital.
Auckland
My name is Justine, I have social media channels and a blog called My Balance Project and this page is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Gabby's Starlit Hope in order to buy Christmas gifts for children in the Starship Child Cancer Ward in Auckland, and children on the ward over Christmas at New Plymouth hospital.
2020 has been a hard year for many, as we know a lot of kiwi families are in need of help and support. There are also a lot of us who would like to help. I have been trying to think of a way that I can use my platform on instagram and Facebook to help raise funds for a charity leading up to Christmas, and was reminded of Gabby Devine, who at 11 started her own charity doing random acts of kindness (see her story below) and performed over 1000 acts of kindness before getting her angel wings at the age of 13.
This is an amazing charity that does incredible things for families with children sick in hospital, and the children themselves. I know they are an amazing support and I can not think of anything worse than being in the position these parents are.
Normally Gabby's Starlit Hope foundation send presents to the kids in the cancer ward at Starship in Auckland, but funds are low this year due to Covid so they are unable to this Christmas. So with Gabby's Mum Sarah's support, I have decided to raise funds for Christmas Presents for the kids on the ward at New Plymouth Hospital and also the Starship Child Cancer Ward in Auckland. The goal is $40 per child (plus parent gifts) with 18 kids on the ward in Auckland, and approx 20 in the kids ward in New Plymouth. A donation of $40 will buy a child a gift :)
All funds go directly to Gabby's Starlit Hope. Gabby's Mum, Sarah, & I will buy gifts 2 weeks before Christmas, and we will deliver the week before Christmas. We would also like to include something for the parents or loved ones of the kids.
I will also be selling clothing items that were gifted to me by brands, with 100% of the proceeds going to this givealittle. You can purchase these items at www.instagram.com/mybalanceprojectpreloved
No amount is too small, every dollar will make a difference to a family facing hardship this Christmas.
Gabby's Story:
Gabby was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma in February 2013, she accumulated around 800 beads of courage from all her treatments. During all these treatments Gabby realised how boring hospital was for kids and she decided to give back. And so her idea for Starlit HOPE began in early 2014 to provide random acts of kindness to oncology kids, their parents and sometimes the staff too. Gabby performed over 1000 'Starlit HOPE' Random Acts of Kindness. Sadly Gabby gained her angel wings on the 15th May 2015 but her legacy lives on through Gabby's Starlit Hope.
My name is Justine from My Balance Project. I'm wanting to raise money to help support families with sick kids this Christmas by providing Christmas presents to bring a smile to the kids faces.
