Fundraising for Grunter`s Moped Mission

Grunter`s moped mission was created in the honour of Hamish Goatleys late father, Grant ‘Grunter’ Goatley, consists of six riders travelling the length of New Zealand (approx 2400 kms) on mopeds from January 4th – 11th 2025.

2025 will be the 10-year anniversary of his dad’s passing from Esophageal cancer, and as someone who was always up for a mad mission, Hamish thought what better way than this mad mission to honour him. Grunter was someone who was always looking for ways to help others in need. As a hardworking man, he spent his life as a sharemilker and flying helicopters and planes to earn the place of being a well-respected member of the Eastern Southland region.

This moped mission has been brewing in the back of Hamish’s mind during university but has now come to fruition to be the ideal way to not only honour 10 years of Dad passing but raise money for both the Rural Support Trust and Hospice New Zealand.

"Rural Support Trust is a trust that I know dad would have been behind and Hospice New Zealand, is where Grant Goatley spent his final days under their exceptional care. I hope this is something people can get behind not only in honour of my dad but also in support of those impacted by cancer or those who have been supported by Rural Support Trust and Hospice New Zealand.”
