Help Harry to Walk One Day

Hi Everyone

We are setting up this page to help the amazing wee ‘Harry Finch’ who has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy since he was 6 weeks old. Ollie (his twin brother) and Harry got Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) when they were in Bex’s tummy which caused them to be born prematurely at 29 weeks. Unfortunately Harry had 2 seizures when he was born, due to the stress he was under from being the donor twin.

He has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy in the muscles in his legs, making walking and other things difficult and sometimes painful. Harry has just turned 3, but because of this disability, despite how smart and determined he is, he is not yet able to stand or walk independently.

Hayden and Bex (Harry’s parents) have recently learned that he has been accepted for surgery at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, USA called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), which will eliminate his spasticity in his legs and allow him the best chance to walk independently – totally life changing!!!! The journey is very expensive and will cost the family approximately $150,000. Hayden and Bex will do all it takes to give Harry the best opportunity to walk, play and do all the things that his twin brother Ollie and his friends can do.

It is highly recommended that the surgery is performed between the ages of 2-4 for this surgery to be of benefit. Harry would need intensive physiotherapy for up to two years post op, 5 days a week for the first 6-12 months following surgery and then would hopefully reduce over time.

Unfortunately, the surgery and physio to follow is not funded here in NZ, so to make this a reality we need to raise $150,000 and get him to America as soon as we possibly can. (We are still waiting to hear the date of the surgery)

Harry is an incredible wee man, who inspires all of us every day with his strength, determination, friendly, kind and loving personality. He bravely faces his challenges every day with a happy, determined spirit. We couldn’t be prouder of him. Harry tells his mum and dad, on a daily bases that he “wants to walk one day”.

If you feel you can afford to “Give A Little” to get Harry the help he needs, you would really be helping to change Harry’s life.

Best Wishes

WHAT A YEAR!!!!  28 June 2019

Now that Harry's fundraising has come to a close we would just like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to each and everyone of you who have made this possible for Harry to get to America and have his surgery.

It has been an amazing journey so far and this year has taught us all so much about how important it is to be kind and help people in need. We sure have felt so much love and we appreciate it all so much. We would not have been able to do this without your help so we are forever grateful for that.

One day we would like to pay to forward to others as much as we can to make other families feel the love too. Our biggest message is never be afraid to ask for help as it is always there.

Harry has taken us places we would never have been and it has certainly brought our family closer.

Reflecting on the year wow we have had soooo many amazing and differnt fundraisers where so many people have rallied together and given up their precious time to make them happen. The raffles, the cheese rolls, the Spartans, the quiz night, Bingo night, The half marathon, the container houses, the ASB good as gold, the Golf day, Harry's Hoot, The boxing night, The auction of the ring and many more. We sure do have some incredible people in our lives in which we love and appreciate so so much. Also the givealittle page offically closes 3 August.

Thank you thank you and much love

The Finches. xxx
