Raising $5000 to $10000 for the Mental Health Foundation by completing an Ironman
Auckland
Hi my name is Alexander Malkin and I would like to raise between $5000 and $10000 for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, by completing an Ironman in March 2019.
I am deeply saddened by the fact that around 600 people die every year from suicide and that mental illness is very misunderstood and often left untreated . I am also saddened at the fact that some people I knew contributed to that 600 figure.
But these feelings I have wouldn't be close to that if that were my brother , sister , son , daughter or a really good mate had decided to take their own life . I have since decided to really challenge myself.
My challenge is to finish Ironman New Zealand in under 12 hours . An Ironman distance consists of a 3.8km swim , 180km bike and full marathon which is 42.2km. The real challenge for me mentally is swimming where I have to effectively learn to swim again and efficiently as well.
I decided that an Ironman would give me the mental and physical challenge I needed to develop personally and do it for such a good cause .
I would like to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation by completing an Ironman
