Suicide prevention boxing fundraiser for The Key to Life Charitable Trust - IT HEAVY HITTERS 2017
Auckland
The IT Heavy Hitters events of 2014/15 &16 raised over $129,000 for The Key to Life Charitable Trust and we are currently working with the team to pull this together again. The Key to Life Charitable Trust is a registered charitable trust aiming to affect positive social change surrounding suicide prevention, suicide awareness and mental health in New Zealand. It's a great cause and we look forward to making a difference to those affected by these issues.
Our "why" is very personal. Several years ago Thomas made an attempt to take his own life. Thankfully he is still here to walk this earth with us and bring joy to our lives like only Thomas can. It hasn't been easy for him. Struggling with emotions, anxiety, dark thoughts, different medication. However over the last couple of years he has made significant recovery. A few months ago he came off his medication in the hope he doesn't need it anymore. This in itself is extremely hard, but it is going well so far. It is our goal to raise awareness for those battling mental health issues in the hopes more people will have the strength and the courage to help someone when in need and to let people know that there is someone who will listen and be there for you. We hope to do our part by stepping in the ring for this charity boxing match in May and raising funds with your help.
We will be participating in a charity fight night to raise funds for Key To Live. Dedicating 14 weeks to training for this event in the hopes we will raise awareness and of course funds!
