'Stage ready' for an amazing cause!
Wellington
Hey all!
At the start of the year I made the decision that I wanted to raise some money for mental health across NZ and the UK. Both Countries have huge issues within its communities that affect people of all ages. Having lost a dear friend a few years ago to mental health and suffering with my own issues over the years I decided to set myself a challenge.
My friend Jonathan competed in a mens physique competition and really enjoyed the challenge and strict regime it entailed to get 'stage ready'. In memory of him and for the cause I set myself the challenge to follow and do the same. I'll be competing in a competition in the middle of November. I had to start training a lot earlier in the year for this and can say although I've found it incredibly challenging and no doubt had my ups and downs I'm tracking well.
These last 10 weeks are where the real work now has the biggest impact. Hours in the gym, personal training sessions and a very strict diet is all added to the then pressure of looking ready to present myself on a stage in front of a crowd to be judged. Those of you that know me will know that years of eating unhealthy, not working out, excessive drinking hadn't put me in a great shape to announce entering a mens physique competition and even had people laugh at the thought of it. This has only driven me harder to make sure I achieve not only the goal of getting on stage but the amount of money I wish to raise doing so.
The decision to achieve this didn't come lightly and to be honest I don't think I was fully prepared for the journey I'd have to go on not only physically but the pressure mentally as well, however I'm all in guns blazing and wanting to succeed and if we can raise some money for an incredible cause in the meantime it'll all be worth it. So please dig deep and let's smash some goals together!
This is to raise money and awareness for all those suffering or affected by mental health issues in NZ.
