Looking to run 100 miles at Tarawera, Rotorua New Zealand to help raise funds for Cancer Research.
Wellington
Kia Ora, I have decided to challenge my mental and physical state by attempting the Tarawera 100 Mile (162km) trail race in February 2021. https://www.taraweraultra.co.nz/
I never thought I would be one of 'them runners' who would attempt a stupid distance like this, and to be honest I hadn't even heard of 100 mile races before I moved to New Zealand 5 years ago, but watching friends and colleagues compete in this exact same race over the pace couple of years has made me realise that with the right attitude, will and determination, anything is possible.
My body may be old and knackered and I can guarantee I will need to be carried from the finish line as me knees will no doubt seize up, but I am willing to put my body through 30 hours of running and sleep deprivation in order to help raise funds for Cancer Research.
When I was a kid I remember Cancer research adds on TV stating that 1-3 people will be touched from cancer within their life and I remember thinking that they must be mistaken as I didn't know anyone that had suffered from cancer. And then I hit my teens and cancer diagnoses for friends and family would come thick and fast.
I am not asking for much in terms of donation, but every little helps, so please do donate and if you want to keep up to date with my training progress or the run on the day, then do contact me.
Many thanks
Malcolm Kerr
I am looking to run the Tarawera ultra 100 mile race in February 2021 to raise money for Cancer Research Trust New Zealand.
