Fundraising for UC Rose Centre for Stroke Recovery and Research

We are hoping to raise $100,000 for the development of an innovative medical device to help patients like our dad continue to swallow safely. Swallowing disorders can affect patients with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), stroke and cancer. Imagine not being able to swallow safely? You couldn’t enjoy your favourite meal or savour your favourite beverage.

Our fundraising and awareness event:

Following our dad’s diagnosis of MND we needed a project to focus our positive attention on. A lifelong interest of his, has been a love of motorsport. With offers of support from extended family and friends a team of willing (albeit novice) contenders agreed to enter the “Lemons Continuous 24 hour” event on the 24th September. What is a Lemon you ask? It's a cheap car, modified for safety reasons and tasked with a 24 hour continuous race on the Hampton Downs circuit. That's no mean feat and the challenge is in keeping that old banger going!!

How can you help?

Your donation will enable the University of Canterbury Rose Centre to develop a device that will allow patients to do intensive computer based treatment at home, while being monitored remotely by their clinician. This will be a life-changer for so many patients especially those who struggle to travel to the clinic.

Thank you for joining us in the “drive” to help people - like Dad - continue to swallow safely.
