Running the Mt Cook 10km in gumboots to raise money for Kiwi kids in need of free counselling!
Canterbury
Having depression is like walking through mud every day. On Friday, April 5th New Zealanders will be taking part in Gumboot Friday to raise money to provide free counselling for Kiwi kids.
It's a bit of a bugger because I left my gummies in NZ and although I probably wouldn't even get double looked wearing a pair through this crazy city we call NYC, I'm going to hold off 6 months so we can keep the national mental health conversation moving long after Gumboot Friday.
I'm going to #gumbootup on Saturday, October 5th (not a Friday, I'm sorry) and I'm going to run (more likely, speed walk) 10km in my gummies through the Mt Cook National Park to raise money for Mike King's I Am Hope foundation that raises money so that kids can receive free counselling.
100% of your donation goes to the kids. All donations are deposited by you into the Kiwibank Gumboot Friday account via Givealittle. The money will then go directly to the registered health professional upon receipt of an invoice.
Imagine if each person who changed their profile picture donated - we'd be well on the way!
I want to help those suffering with mental illness have access to free counselling.
