Give so that kindness and generosity can be experienced, like that of my Grandma to me. Give so that no one may stand in isolation.
Canterbury
My name is Jess, (I'm the one with my jaw jutting out) and I want to make a stand for cancer.
My Grandma is the most generous person I know. She's tender, soft, wise, wicked smart, and recently was diagnosed with stomach cancer. As her eldest grandchild, I have benefited greatly from her care and influence over my 19 years, and so news of this development broke my heart. I have written poems, and cried, and prayed, but I wanted to do something tangible to turn this hurt of mine into something good.
The money I raise is being donated to the Cancer Society, who aid in the support of cancer patients and their families, and actively aim to ensure that the risk and destructive impact of cancer is minimized in Kiwi communities. I am also shaving my hair off to show loyalty and love to my Grandma; to show that she is not alone. I will probably look funny, but this is not about being gracefully bald. This is about letting nothing stand in the way of giving love to one another, even in the face of ridicule, fear, and vanity.
Please donate to support thousands of cancer victims up and down our country, and beyond.
My Grandma was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer, and I am shaving my head to show I stand with her! In addition to this I would like to raise money to benefit the Cancer Society to show love to others who are also journeying with this disease.
