My Queenstown half marathon run to raise donations from colleagues, family and friends for the Heart Foundation
Canterbury
I suffered a heart problem last February caused by a congenital defect I didn't even know I had.. I was just 57 years old .. during my recovery I wrote a book' Getting to the heart of the matter' which my publisher sent to the NZ Heart Foundation... they contacted me and part of my book and story is appearing on the site soon, and highlights the trauma that our partners and family go through at this time, which has never been done before.
Next year the Foundation is focusing on women's awareness around heart problems which often go undetected, and I am hoping to be involved in this campaign.
I would like to raise $1000 for the Foundation to support them in all the great work they do in helping us to understand and recognise heart problems and to work towards reducing the numbers of men and women who die prematurely due to heart diseases. If an of you would like to help me in my cause I would very much appreciate it, I expect most of know someone either in our families or our circle of friends who have had a similar experience to me, so let's all do whatever we can to work towards better health for all through education and raising awareness.
I went through a triple heart by-pass last February and am competing in Queenstown half marathon as I wish to support the Heart Foundation and raise money to help this charity who do so much good work
