Our dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons in May 2018. It was devastating news to receive and an adjustment to make. Dad has been a trooper and carrying on. He decided to lose some weight and smashed out a 10kilo weight loss in just 3 months, he is still very active to.
This year he decided to join Pedal for Parkinsons. Pedal for Parkinsons is a 18km & 64km ride along on the stunning Wairarapa East Coast on Sunday, 17 February 2019 to raise money for Parkinson's New Zealand. The 64 km long course starts at Pahaoa, runs up the Devils Creek Gorge through manuka bush and downhill across the Rerewhakaaitu River.
With him, by his side will be his brother Ben Perry, niece Jasmin Stevenson with her partner Hayden and doing the 18km leg will be completed by daughter Emily Perry, sister Tina Perry and partner Louise Wilson.
It has turned to quite a family affair and we hope to raise as much as we can for the awareness of Parkinsons.
My dad, Neil was diagnosed with Parkinsons so we want to help others with Parkinsons.
