Help Sir Ray Avery reduce global child mortality by sponsoring me to run a 100K ultramarathon in the Arizona desert
International
Each year eight million children die before their 5th birthday and three million of these deaths occur in the first 28 days. Many of these deaths would be preventable if neo-natal incubators were available however incubators are expensive and not designed to work in the challenging hospitals of the developing world. To address this, Sir Ray Avery has developed a low-cost, indestructible incubator called the LifePod through his Medicine Mondiale charity to help save children’s lives in the developing world.
In October 27th, 2018 I’m running the Javalina Jundred 100K ultramarathon in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, USA to help Medicine Mondiale raise funds to develop LifePods. The race will be tough as approximately 25% of runners don’t finish due to the effect of the long exposure to the desert environment. I’ll also need to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes, coyotes and various other critters that may cross my path.
I’m self-funding my trip to the US to run the ultramarathon. All donations you make via my Give A Little Page will go directly to Sir Ray’s Medicine Mondiale charity.
