Random Jaffas, Dragonboat Team Paddle - Paddle to Auckland Harbour Bridge

Auckland

Kia ora, my name is Rel.

I want to support this years March Endometriosis awareness campaign in the hopes for more research and help with early diagnosis.

Endometriosis can be well treated and managed but until the cause is determined, no particular treatment will provide a guaranteed cure.

I was diagnosed with Endometriosis when I was 39.

Like many women, I only found out when I was trying to get pregnant.

After two surgeries and failed fertility treatments it's been a rough road.

Although the surgery helped for a little while, the pain is back.

Life is planned around my cycle due to the pain I have each month.

I am a current team member of the Random Jaffas Dragonboat team.

For my challenge, with the help of my awesome dragonboat team, and supported by Auckland Dragonboat Association.

We will paddle from Westhaven Mariner Pier Z to the Auckland harbour bridge and back.

There is no cure for Endometriosis but we can raise awareness.

If you know any young girls and women in your life, who can't get through a period without pain killers, please go and talk to your doctor, if they don't listen, get a second opinion until you get someone who will.

That kind of pain is not normal and it's ok to ask for help.

Endometriosis NZ is here to help.

Please support Endometriosis NZ, me, and my good looking dragonboat team as we paddle the harbour for Endo.

Auckland Harbour Bridge paddle challenge completed.  27 March 2022

Fantastic paddle to the Auckland Harbour Bridge, this morning for Endometriosis awareness month. A few set backs but we got there in the end.

Thank you Auckland Dragon Boat Association, Random Jaffas, Lion Dragonboat Club for joining us, Holly Claeys for her beautiful photography and videography skills, and everyone who donated and supported this challenge and cause.

Very much appreciate it.
