For Maree Pene – Running for Dementia Awareness
Late last year, my partner and her family said their final goodbyes to Maree Pene their beautiful Nan, after years of battling with dementia. Over time, we watched her fade — losing her voice, her memories, and the vibrant light that made everyone feel loved and welcomed.
She was the heart of the family — kind, joyful, and endlessly giving. Watching dementia slowly take her away from us was one of the hardest things they’ve ever faced.
To honour her memory, I am running a 24-hour ultramarathon in support of Dementia — raising awareness and funds for the thousands of families walking the same painful path.
This run is more than a challenge. It’s a tribute to Maree’s strength, her love, and the hope that one day no one will lose a loved one this way.
Please consider donating. Every dollar helps bring hope to those still fighting.
We run for Maree. We run for change. 💜
