I am running my first half marathon and raising money for KidsCan.
KidsCan believes all children deserve to have full tummies. The Food for Kids programme currently provides targeted food at school for thousands of financially disadvantaged children every day. As of today, KidsCan supports over 32,000 hungry children a week, most of whom need KidsCan food daily, in 16 regions across New Zealand. This programme has had a remarkable effect on improving learning ability and concentration levels in class.
For families struggling to make ends meet, providing raincoats for their children can be a real challenge–thousands of Kiwi children go without this basic item. The cold winter weather keeps many at home, while others arrive wet and freezing, unable to concentrate and at high risk of illness. The children love their Vodafone Warriors raincoats and because they all wear them, it improves equality in the playground and reduces stigma.
New Zealand schools report to KidsCan that many children go without shoes or come to school with shoes in a bad condition. In winter, those without shoes might choose to stay at home and miss out on their education. The KidsCan ‘Shoes for Kids’ programme provides free quality footwear and socks for children, to protect their feet and ensure they can come to school whatever the weather.
The Health for Kids programme provides schools and families with practical support and products to help prevent health issues; from basic provisions such as hand sanitisers, plasters, to head lice products through treatment and combs.
Please donate today to support KidsCan. Do it for the kiwi kids.
