Help us raise awareness and funds and let the young kiwis know they are not alone.
Otago
Last year a team of us ran up and down Baldwin Street in Dunedin 822 times to raise money for The Mental Health Foundation.
This year we want to tackle it again! In 2018 there were almost 700 suicides in New Zealand. To raise awareness and funds, we will climb up and down Baldwin Street for 7 hours. This year all proceeds will go to I AM HOPE.
WHY?
In 2018, in Aotearoa 137 young people died by suicide and it is estimated another 3500 tried to take their own lives. While Government agencies are doing their best, some kids are stuck waiting up to six months to receive the counselling they so urgently need.
I AM HOPE is the youth and community focused support group run by The Key to Life Charitable Trust, started by Mike King. For the last three years Key To Life have been promoting positive attitudinal societal change in schools and communities up and down the country, and funding private care and counselling for young people stuck-in-the-mud on waiting lists.
We want to create awareness about mental health within New Zealand. We are not alone. Its OK to speak.
