Nick and Tony's 8 Hour Skateathon

$2,600 donated
Given by 46 generous donors in around 3 months

Support two middle-aged dudes with bad knees aiming to skate 150km in 8 hours to raise funds for I Am Hope and Gumboot Friday

Taranaki

Helping young people access mental health services is vital. Demand is high and service availability is low. I Am Hope has been doing amazing work to fund counselling sessions for youth however with the current lack of government funding, need people to donate where possible.

In order to do our part, we are going to punish our bodies by attempting a 150km in eight hours non-stop skate along New Plymouth's Coastal Walkway - a 13.2km path that winds across the beachfront.

The current world record for a 24-hour skate is 431km. So attempting 150km in one-third of the time is a task that will punish the bodies of two middle-aged dudes who have both had knee surgeries in the past.

Whether you can donate one dollar or one hundred, we are hoping to raise as much money as possible in exchange for a few pulled muscles and a potential exercise-induced vomit.

We are passionate about helping young people access the services they need and hope you are willing to contribute a few dollars along the way.

Thank you.  7 November 2021

Just over 24 hours since we finished our skate, walking is still a painful experience. Who would've thought a calf muscle could feel like rocks?

We are both so grateful for your support over the past few months. While we raised just over $2700, we've also been lucky enough to meet and talk to a lot of people about our skate and mental health and that has been a humbling experience.

So for this year, we are done and with this one out of the way, maybe we will train just a little bit harder for next year.

We'll be continuing our community-focused work through our Instagram (@damnthieves) if you'd like to see what we're up to.

Until then, thank you and take care.

Nick and Tony.
