Please help us raise funds for another child with Autism to have an assistance dog. It will make the world of difference for their family!
Auckland
Leon from assistance dogs came into our lives 3 weeks ago. He is such a wonderful gift. Our son Soham was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2 and he is now 5. We had to wait 3 years for him and the wait list is now 7 years!
You can not imagine the world of difference Leon has made. Last weekend we went for a walk in the park and sat down and had an ice cream like any other family in the park. Before Leon - the walk to start with would have been impossible as Soham would just keep trying to run away. Most of the time a trip to the park would end with us having to haul him back into the car. This is just one example - we are now brave enough to venture into the mall and the supermarket with Soham with the end goal being that Soham does these tasks independently with Leon.
I hope that every child with Autism has the option of an assistance Dog and the chance to experience the friendship and trust that Soham and Leon already have.
Please give them this opportunity and give generously.
I'm involved because My son who has Autism is lucky enough to have an assistance dog to help him through his hurdles and helps us give him a childhood that any other neurotypical child has.
This option should be available to all other children with autism as well. But training these dogs is expensive and funds are needed .
