South Canterbury Emergency Service Personnel combining to ride 310km in three days for three great charities.

Canterbury

20 members from South Canterbury's Emergency Services are banding together to take on a 310km mountain-bike ride from the Alps to the Ocean (Mt Cook to Oamaru) in February 2019. This ride would normally take 5-6 days, but we are all doing it in 3 days instead - for a good cause!

The ride is a combination of off-road and sealed road sections, some with a higher degree of difficulty than others. All 20 of us are completing the 310km individually, which will mean 6-8 hours on the bike each day depending on the conditions.

Day 1 is Mt Cook to Lake Ohau (107km). Day 2 is Lake Ohau to Otematata (79km). Day 3 is Otematata to Oamaru (124km).

We are raising funds for three great causes:

- Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust (Canterbury/West Coast)

- New Zealand Flying Doctor Service

- NZ Mental Health Foundation (Mental Health Awareness)

Please get on board with this great challenge by donating to our page! You will be pushing us to mentally get across the line and complete this great ride for three great causes.

The riders representing the South Canterbury Emergency Services are:

NZ Police: Darren Galbraith, Ben Grant, Greg Harrison, Kris Howes, Lucie Joines, Tyson Martin, Sarah McLeod, Dylan Murray, Richard Quested and Christie Wood

Fire & Emergency NZ: Leighton Brehaut, Jeremy Gaskin, Donna Lindsay, Trevor Karton, Brad Keen, Nick O'Brien and Sam Turpin

St John Ambulance: Josh Whyte

DHB Accident & Emergency: Lucy Farr, Becky Gray & Hannah Sturmer
