St Mark's School students Walk with a Purpose, fundraising to feed 150 Ugandan school children for a year.
Canterbury
On the 25th of June, St Mark's School students have the opportunity to walk to school to raise money to help feed children in need in Uganda. Students will be joined by family members and teachers and may have to leave as early as 5.30 in the morning in order to get to school by 8.30 am in time for the school day. Walking routes will be set up so that students will be able to link up with each other on their early morning journey.
The money St Mark's School students raise from their Walk with a Purpose will go towards the life changing feeding programme, run by Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation NZ at Rwenjaza Hillside School in Uganda. Rwenjaza is an extremely impoverished area where children have no other transport option other than to walk to and from school every school day. Children live up to 10 km away from school and many walk each day on an empty tummy. The feeding programme at the Rwenjaza Hillside School provides each student with a nourishing cup of porridge which is life giving and life changing and costs just $36 per child for a whole school year.
The heart of the St Mark's School Walk with a Purpose for Fountain of Peace is that students, their families and teachers can come together as a school community for something much bigger than themselves, to make a difference in the lives of others. Together with your support they would love to reach their goal to feed 150 Rwenjaza School students for a year.
