I want to thank this incredible place for the help it's given a friend and keep it there for everyone I know in case they or friends need it

Auckland

Whilst deciding to run a marathon, I unexpectedly had my eyes opened to the world of Starship. I'd never thought I'd have to step foot in the building and hope I never have to again, but the truth of life is that unexpected things do crop up. It is such a relief to know a fantastic team is available for all my friends and acquaintances should they ever have the unfortunate need for specialist children's healthcare.

Thank you Starship for looking after my friends and I hope this effort helps you be there for many more families. The great work I saw you do and the all round care of children you look after is incredible and more than enough inspiration to get me to the finish line at Taupo on 5th August 2017.

To those still reading, please donate to help keep this place there so if anyone you know suddenly needs specialist care for a child, it's there and able to provide the best level of care and treatment possible.

Katie Kindleysides' involvement (page creator)

a very good friend who's been a great support to me during my move to New Zealand suddenly found out earlier this year her healthy baby was suffering from a rare kidney defect that led to an unexpected trip to Starship. Being based in Auckland I managed to spend a bit of time with the family during their stay and was amazed at the level of care and support the hospital gave them. Even though they are now home Starship continues to support them and guide the long-term care of their child giving them access to medications and specialists well beyond the scope of regular medical care. It is not just the child this is important too, but the whole family as these treatments keep him well enough to live at home keeping them together.
