The Big Chop.
Raising funds for Rainbow Place and chopping off 30cm of my hair to donate to cancer patients.
WaikatoSamantha has been growing her hair long for the past two years to be able to cut off 30cm to donate to a local wig maker who turns the hair into wigs for cancer patients....believe me it has not been easy as we have been carefully trimming it to keep the hair in good condition as well as carefully treating the ends to keep it healthy.
Samantha is 11 years old and loves her long hair, however she is willing to cut it off so that someone who is facing hard times with loosing their hair can get a wig to make them feel better.
In 2014 Samantha did the big chop and her hair was donated to a larger company who we later found out sells the wigs. This time our awesome hairdresser Klova and Co. has found a local lady who takes the hair and blends multiple donations of hair together to create a stylish wig to give away to those who need them.
This time Samantha would like to raise some funds for a charity that she feels is fitting - Rainbow Place as it is a local organisation that helps looks after kids who have cancer and support their families.
Samantha would like to raise $200 to donate and she is aware that it is a tough time of year with Christmas so close, but she has been holding off until her dance show was finished as she had to have her hair in a bun, which would not be possible if she had it chopped off before the show.
So on the 10th of December it is the big day and samantha will be walking out of the hairdresser with 30cm less hair.
Andrea Lane's involvement (page creator)
Samantha wants to help Rainbow house as she has a huge heart for helping others and felt that by raising funds for Rainbow house it was fitting with her cutting her hair to donate for wigs.
