Help us support the DCM to provide more dental services to homeless and vulnerable Wellingtonians.
Wellington
About 41,000 New Zealanders are without habitable accommodation including living on the streets or in shelters, or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. (Otago University Study, 2016)
Wellington's DCM works with people who are experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of homelessness, supporting them on a journey towards sustainable housing and wellbeing. You can read more about DCM’s work including stories about their success at www.dcm.org.nz. DCM set up a dental service in 2016 and are now providing emergency dental treatment to some 180 people each year. You can find out more about the service here https://www.onepercentcollective.org/stories/the-life-changing-chair
People who are homeless are 12 times more likely than individuals with stable housing to have dental problems and dental health can make a huge difference to health and wellbeing.
We are a group of students wanting to support DCM in its work with people in our city who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our goal is to help in a practical way by supporting the dental service. The relief from pain that this service offers can be the first step in a person's journey to wellbeing. Please help us raise funds for this really important service.
Together we can make a difference.
All money raised will go to DCM to provide more dental services for homeless and vulnerable Wellingtonians.
We are a group of students raising money for the DCM's free dental service. The DCM currently has about 200 homeless people, and people in need, accessing its dental service. Our goal is to support more people to get the dental care they need. The relief from pain that the dental service offers can be the first step in a person's journey to wellbeing.
