It's not just any ol' 21 km run, its a Slog Jog for Hope. It won't be easy but neither is battling mental health conditions like depression!
Taranaki
We are Taranaki locals and love the region and we want to raise awareness and funds for the I AM HOPE charity to assist with the massive Mental Health issues we have throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
Kane (and whoever wants to join) is going to slog it out in his gumboots by running 21kim from his place in Ohangai to Hawera on Sunday the 7th of June. Kane has recently begun a social media crusade to get local farmers living healthier lifestyles to counter the day-to-day issues that come with being a rural farmer as it can be so tough for those individuals and their families.
Mental Health problems and suicide have both long been treated as an afterthought through the farming community in New Zealand and with the emergence of organisations like I AM HOPE, we can finally begin to address these issues. Events like Gumboot Friday and the Tractor Trek certainly bring a needed spotlight to this silent killer, Kane and myself want to help where we can.
We're looking to raise $5,000, with all proceeds going to I AM HOPE, which will go towards helping pay for counselling sessions for those in need. So please get involved!

My mate Kane Brisco (pictured above with his whanau) is going next level and is going to run a half marathon in South Taranaki in his trusty gumboots. All to raise awareness and funds for I AM HOPE. I'm Jayden and I'm helping with the fundraise!
Slog Jog Extended 9 July 2020
