Trekking 30km of the Hilary trail from Piha to Muriwai in 1 day to raise money for victims of the Nepalese earthquake.
Auckland
After having recently returned from a trip to Nepal i was devastated to hear about the Earthquake disaster. Nepal was one of my favorite countries, its dramatic landscape and friendly people make it impossible not to love. I met alot of remarkable people there and left with alot of friends.
I have little money but after hearing about the earthquake was desperate to do something to help!
So because my fondest memories of Nepal were trekking in the Himalayas i have decided to do 1 day challenge. 30km of the Hillary trail, from Piha Beach to Muriwai. I chose this partly because of the challenge of the route and partly because it was named after Sir Ed Hilary, a personal hero of mine who did alot of work to aid Nepal.
This is why i have also chosen to fundraise for the Himalayan trust which was funded by Sir Edmund Hillary in the 1960.
The Himalayan Trust is working closely with local communities in Nepal to help villages affected by the earthquake rebuild.
Any donations are appreciated! Alternatively if you would like to join me in the trek send me a message (obviously a certain level of fitness is required, i plan to do a combination of running and walking).
