I am walking Te Araroa Trail to raise money equally for Youth Suicide Support Agencies, Lifeline and Life Matters.
Nationwide
For a number of years I had wanted to walk the length of New Zealand on the Te Araroa Trail. In December 2018, at 63 years of age, I finally kicked it off by walking 90 Mile Beach. I was so taken by the beauty of our country, I decided in November last year to give it a good knock but do it for a worthy cause.
The alarming and shameful rate of young people ending their lives unnecessarily was played out before me several times during my children's high school years and I decided to try to raise funds for organisations here to help, but struggling for funds.
So over the past 2 months I have grunted my way down country over 700km in stages, whilst returning to work in between to earn a living.
I have met and walked with many amazing people from all counties of the world and experienced unlimited kindness from so many Kiwis on the way.
Thankyou all.
The journey will continue until the seasons make it too uncomfortable, then resume in Spring.
I have been saddened by the terrible suicide rates in New Zealand especially amongst our youth.
I am currently walking Te Araroa Trail in stages to raise money to equally support these two worthy causes.
