Lower Hutt Community Foodbank - Helping people in need since 1986

  Wellington Food

The Lower Hutt Foodbank has reluctantly had to suspend its services to protect the safety of clients, volunteers and staff in the COVID-19 lock down. However, The Salvation Army and the Common Unity Project have stepped in to help and our clients are now receiving a contact-less delivery service. Your donation will be passed on to these partner organisations to ensure people in our community who need food are still receiving it. So, be assured that any donation you make will be used for the purpose you intended. Many thanks.

Since 1986 the Lower Hutt Community Foodbank has been responding to people's immediate needs through the provision of free emergency food parcels. And because we believe in helping people by giving them a 'hand-up' and not just a 'hand-out', we also refer them to other community support organisations when additional assistance is required.

The Foodbank has distributed an average of 2200 food parcels each year, with each parcel containing a week's food for the household. The estimated dollar value of all food parcels distributed in 2019 totals over $360,000.
