MCG is a charitable club focused on improving MTB and other cycling opportunities, with a Trail Park development at Rangituhi/Colonial Knob
Our aim is to provide a great community atmosphere. To be fitter, healthier people. Easing traffic congestion and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. planting natives and controlling pests on the land our trails pass through. Giving youth more activities and reasons to stay out of trouble. Supporting new business and employment through visitor spend.
Our committee members have proven track records developing and helping other trail projects around the region.
So far MCG has planted over 1000 tree poles to stabilise the front face slope, planted native plants in winter, installed pest traps and maintain the line. We have removed tons of pest plants and weeds. We have previously run free Bike-Fix-It days providing free labour to fix over 50 bikes annually (this has now been taken over by Greenbike Trust . We have built 2km of quality singletrack by hand with volunteer labour and carefully planned 4km of trails which was digger built mid 2015.
At the Mana Cycle Group we are here to improve Porirua's quality of life and increase visitors to the region.
Mana Cycle Group's focus is building a destination trail park on Rangituhi/Colonial Knob, as well as restoring it to the beautiful lush native forest it once would had been before it was farmed. We are committed to keeping these trails accessible and free to all.
Other important things that we do include advocating for better cycling infrastructure, to improve commuting and recreational safety. Safety has been proven to encourage a wider range of people to get out and ride.
