Help us keep Nelson Tasman a vibrant, connected and supportive community for older people, treating them with dignity and respect.
Nelson / Tasman
At Age Concern Nelson Tasman we're committed to ensuring that the older people of Nelson Tasman have a vibrant, connected and supported community in which to live.
Everything we do is about improving the lives of older people across the region - whether it's supporting someone facing elder abuse, providing social connections, or putting on celebratory events. We work hard at championing the rights of people aged 65 +, and enjoy thinking creatively about how we can do that.
All our services are free - whether you want advice or information, or are looking for a volunteer to visit someone feeling lonely and isolated. People call us or pop into our office with a wide range of questions . . . and if we're not able to help directly, we'll point you in the direction of who can.
As a local charity, we are always fundraising and looking for innovative ways to increase what we offer to a local growing ageing population. The demand for our services is only going to continue, and our staff has already doubled since 2015.
We're currently fundraising to make improvements to the Age Concern Hall, a building we took over the lease for in August 2018. It needs some upgrading and alterations to make it a more welcoming, vibrant hub for older people.
In 2017 we set up AgeConnect, an initiative that's helping build friendships and social connections for older people. Already it has raised awareness of the issues around social isolation and loneliness and has had a great response for those who want to help.
This new service joins our existing Elder Abuse Response, Accredited Visitor and Carer Relief services, as well as ongoing training, education, events and activities.
Please give to ensure we can continue to provide professional and innovative services and make Nelson Tasman a great place to age.
We offer advice, information and support to people over 65 in the Nelson Tasman region; encourage positive and active ageing and are committed to promoting dignity and respect for older people.
