The Aongatete Forest Restoration Trust was set up in 2006 by Tauranga Forest and Bird and Katikati Rotary Club with the support of local landowners and Ngai Tamawhariua. We are all volunteers including the nine trustees and the 70-strong band of workers. Our aims include restoring the native wildlife and plant life, reintroducing some lost species, enhancing the public experience and enjoyment of the forest and promoting pest control over the whole Conservation Park.

The Trust’s aim is to restore the biodiversity of the Aongatete Forest and enhance the public experience and enjoyment of it. The task involves restoring the abundance of common native birds and invertebrates, reintroducing some native species and promoting the restoration of the whole Kaimai-Mamaku Conservation Park.
