Coastguard Volunteers provide the only marine search and rescue response for coastal inshore waters around New Zealand.

By providing a voluntary marine search and rescue response to New Zealanders, the Rescue Coordination Center of New Zealand and the New Zealand Police.

Coastguard has 2,458 active Professional trained Volunteers who provide over 350,000 hours of their time each year to educate, protect and help save lives at sea. Coastguard performs over 3,000 rescues each year assisting over 6,000 New Zealanders.
