Coastguard Queenstown is fundraising to build a new dedicated search & rescue and training base for our volunteer unit here on Lake Wakatipu
Otago
Coastguard Queenstown has been fundraising for a new training and rescue centre since 2013. We have a large portion of the required funds secured from trusts and private donors but we are still $100,000 short of our goal. The building will allow us to deliver on water traing and marine courses for our crew and also for the wider Queenstown community. We are a volunteer organisation and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
Our professionally trained volunteers provide an essential marine search and service to the Queenstown community and the many visitors to this area who recreate or work on Lake Wakatipu. Our mission is to save lives on the water.
In past 6 years since starting, our volunteers have given 16,829 hours of service to the community, responded to 50 police search & rescue calls, 76 calls for help from the public, rescued 143 people and made sure they returned home safely to their families.

Update for Search & Rescue Centre Building Project 28 February 2014
We have raised a large portion of the total $575,000 required for the construction and fit out of Queenstown's first marine Search and Rescue Centre.
As building costs increase throughout the country we are now pushing hard to raise the final $100,000 needed to begin the project and develop this community asset in time for summer 2016/17. Please give anything you can to support this campaign so that we canmake Lake Wakatipu a safer place to play.
