Comfort International NZ works in Rwanda, DRC & Burundi by partnering with local Christian organisations to support those most in need.
Auckland
Comfort International is firmly rooted in the conviction that the God’s heart is turned towards the poor. If we want to show His nature and purposes in the world we must therefore include an active demonstration of such compassion and care.
What We Do...
Supporting Education
Comfort International sponsor children and young adults through school and college. There is also a mother and baby sponsorship programme.
Training & Employment
Providing land, tools or technical knowledge enables them to move to this next step.
Providing Care and Relief
Food, shelter and health care are often the immediate needs, and many of our projects are tailored to help tackle those needs.
Promoting Relationship
Comfort International encourages individuals, groups and churches from overseas to visit Rwanda and/or D.R. Congo.
Partnering the Church
We partner with individual churches on many of the projects. We also aim to encourage the wider church in Rwanda by offering training opportunities for pastors.
Sustainable Communities
All of the above together provides a strong foundation for a Sustainable Community where hope has returned and ideas for future progress are initiated by the community.
Comfort International began as Comfort Rwanda in 1999, five years after the 1994 genocide, with the aim of supporting our Rwandan partners in their endeavour to support the recovery of genocide survivors in Rwanda.
The remit of the charity has continued to expand and although this remains the main focus the charity also addresses wider issues of poverty in Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi. Our aim is to encourage individuals and communities to transition from requiring basic care & relief support through to self-sustainability and building a healthy & sustainable community. With this in mind we are active in short, medium, and long term projects throughout Rwanda and into neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi.
