ECPAT ChildAlert is the only organisation with the sole focus of addressing the commercial sexual exploitation of children in New Zealand.

ECPAT Child ALERT seeks to end the sexual exploitation of children through providing research, education and social actions focused on Child Protection, Child Sexual Abuse Imagery, Child Sex Tourism, Underage Survival Sex and Domestic Trafficking.
We have made some significant gains in protecting children in the past 20 years including:
- Persuaded the Government to enact legislation to prosecute New Zealanders who indulge in sex tourism overseas.
- Advocated for the ratification of the UN’s Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children.
- Carried out a national awareness campaign with The Bodyshop.
- Lobbying the NZ Government to have the definition of 'trafficking' updated to align international standards.
- Conducted research into the sexual exploitation of children in New Zealand.
- Trained thousands of NZ frontline workers in how to recognise and respond to child sexual abuse that has a financial component.

Your generous support of ECPAT Child Alert in the past has allowed us to take some really positive steps this year towards ending the sexual exploitation of children.
One such initiative is the establishment of a cross-sector group that brings together NGOs and Government sectors such as police, customs, immigration and DIA so that we can have a coordinated effort to end child sexual exploitation in New Zealand.
With your support we have also run trainings and workshops so that hundreds of frontline workers like teachers and social workers know how to recognise and respond to sexual abuse with a financial component.
We have big plans for research, campaigns and advocacy in 2020 so thank you for your continued financial support that allows us to do this work.
