ESYT

ESYT

We run events & programmes that enable young people to be creative and passionately strive to fulfill their dreams and goals in life.

Wellington

We are set up to respond to the different needs that are identified in the areas we are working in.

As a Trust, rather than focusing on just one aspect of a young person’s life, we take on a holistic approach which we believe will help us build an effective wrap around service for the young people and their whanau. We hope that eventually entire communities will benefit from these opportunities.

We are focused on supporting youth workers who are working closely with young people in our communities to help them thrive and fulfill their goals and dreams. We are aware that the needs of our young peoples whanau’s are at times beyond our expertise, so to make sure we are able to fulfill their needs effectively and efficiently we partner with other agencies who have the same ethos as us.

Life is getting increasingly complicated and we all need a hand navigating our way through and ESYT brings a layer that will assist in this. ESYT journeys with young people and whanau across the Eastern and Southern suburbs of Wellington. We value education and work hard to help young people find successful pathways. We create safe and creative environments where young people are supported, given new skills and are free to learn and express themselves using a range of things from sports to performing and creative arts.

More about us

We have youth workers active on the ground in a number of schools, Wellington City Council housing projects, ASB stadium youth nights etc. Plus we provide leadership development, small group mentoring, and a wide range of activities and programmes throughout our area, in addition to partnering with other agencies to provide total wrap around services.

Study Support  11 August 2015

ESYT was given one off funding back in July 2014 part of this funding was to improve education the young people in Strathmore, so ESYT set up Study Support.

Two nights a week we have tutors from Inspirational Education come to ESYT to work with the young people on their school work. The tutors work alongside our youth workers to reduce the ratio to 1:1 or 1:2 depending on the number of young people we get in a night. This has been a huge success as we have seen our young people grow in their understanding of maths and literacy, even when they were not currently in school. It has helped them to gain confidence so that they have either returned to mainstream schooling or started a course in an area of interest.

However, this great project is now at risk as the one off funding has ended. ESYT is trying to continue this and would love financial support from people to help fund the tutors.
