Aotearoa is one of the leading countries in the world with consistently high youth suicide rates. Figures released for 2023 from the Ministry of Health, revealed that we lost 108 young people to suicide aged 0-24 in the last year. That's 108 too many. While Government agencies are doing their best, some young people are waiting up to six months to receive the counselling they so urgently need.

We're on a mission to change this. The goal? 0 youth suicides. How? By continuing to deliver free, immediate counselling to young Kiwis in need. While we now receive public funding, the demand for free counselling continues to grow. Your support makes it possible for young people in distress to access mental health support when they need it most.

Gumboot Friday is an initiative by I Am Hope Foundation, a fundraising and advocacy organisation, which supports young people who are struggling with their mental health. We help connect young people with existing counsellors or therapists while covering the cost so that our rangatahi get the help they need, when they need it.

I Am Hope Foundation is a registered charity (registration number CC44260) and overseen by a board of trustees, including mental health professionals.

All donations made to the Gumboot Friday Fund directly support young people in need. Donations can only be accessed by a registered mental health professional on receipt of an invoice.
