Heart For Youth Trust

H4Y was established in 2012 by founding directors Ross and Susan McCook for the sole purpose of meeting the needs of youth and young adults of our communities across Auckland and beyond. Since it’s inception, H4Y Trust has already had significant impact on the lives of many young people in those communities.

Our Mission: “To accept, connect, equip and encourage youth & young adults through the integration of training processes and programs covering life skills/ values, self-awareness, self-esteem/ self-discipline principles and personal growth of all youth/young adults from any ethnicities - inclusive of youth at risk, those marginalised, underprivileged and those having special needs or disabilities in Aotearoa New Zealand ”.

H4Y has some outstanding initiatives rolling out at present and those initiatives are set to expand dramatically over the next two years with our three main spearhead programmes being:

1. Youth Mentoring - Trained volunteer adults mentoring young people

2. WIDE EYES - In schools mentor training and anti-bullying programme.

3. Teen support group - Supporting youth and young adults at risk to suicide/self harm and depression

We know these programmes are creating significant impact and positive change in many many young people’s lives in our communties. For some of these young people, we believe this trust has literally saved lives as we are both disturbed about increasing youth suicide in our country and are equally as passionate and determined about preventing it.

In addition to the above, H4Y provides where possible, free youth counselling to youth at risk to suicide, depression, self-harm and anxiety.
