Through outdoor education and adventure, Hillary Outdoors immerses young people in a safe and inclusive environment that fosters personal growth and well-being. We open their eyes to a world of potential and inspire them to live for more.

1 in 8 children live in material hardship where their lives are often confined to a small radius around where they live. They feel isolated, are unfulfilled and don’t see a bright future ahead.

Liam, a young boy from Hamilton, was never picked for anything. He wouldn’t even pick himself. He feared the possibility of it, shying away from the world. His Hillary Outdoors experience was life-changing. At a pivotal time in his life, he felt empowered to face the unknown and put himself forward. During his Hillary Outdoors journey, his confidence and determination grew exponentially. Liam became a leader in his school group and later became Head Boy at his school.

Thousands of young New Zealanders like Liam have undiscovered potential but, due to financial hardship, miss out on the opportunity to develop their self-belief.

One day, there will be no barriers for rangatahi to pursue their aspirations and discover greatness, but they need your help. They cannot imagine a future of possibility alone.

From humble beginnings in 1972, Hillary Outdoors are now the custodians of the amazing legacy created by Sir Graeme Dingle and Sir Edmund Hillary; today, over 50 years later, creating brighter futures for young New Zealanders.

With such a deep history, our schools programme now has a place in the hearts of generations of New Zealanders. Our tertiary certificate and diploma programmes provide the outdoor learning and adventure tourism sectors with sought-after instructors and guides. Our secondary school, adventure race challenges, boost participation in sports and help to develop future athletes.

Through outdoor and adventure education, rangatahi have transformative experiences that develop resilience, confidence and leadership, empowering them to do extraordinary things.
