Kea Conservation Trust

Working with communities and other organisations to save kea, supporting communities to reduce conflict situations, developing education material and programmes to highlight threats facing the species, researching population status and productivity through annual surveys and nest monitoring, protecting nests throughout the breeding season and providing opportunities for others to get involved.

Since the KCT's formation in 2006 we have raised awareness of the endangered status of kea, identified threats and issues facing the species, initiated programmes to resolve these threats, developed positive working relationships with organisations here and overseas to support our conservation aims and developed lasting community partnerships within NZ for the benefit of kea and their fragile alpine environment.
