Founded in 1963 the Mangawhai Heads VLS Inc. has been saving lives and educating the community every summer since. With accolades in After Hours Rescues and recognised as one of the top SLS Clubs in the Northern Region, MHVLS is a not-for-profit that runs on both funding gained from SLSNR and donations from the public.

The Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service (MHVLS) was formed in 1963. Since this time MHVLS has delivered its Volunteer Lifeguard every summer, ensuring public safety in Mangawhai Heads.
