Food poverty is an increasing issue within the Masterton community. Private donations will help the Foodbank aid those in need.
Wellington
The number of food parcels distributed in 2019 represented a 22% increase from the previous year and figures for the current year, unfortunately, are showing a similar increase.
Members of the community and local businesses continue to provide great support, both financially and by donating food items, complementing the support from Government agencies.
A continuing increase in demand from all sectors and age groups in the community, coupled with a continuing increase in the cost of food, is putting pressure on the Foodbank’s ability to help those in need.
Your donations will directly provide that help.
The Foodbank strives to help alleviate the problem of food poverty within the Masterton area by providing emergency food parcels. Working closely with local businesses and members of the community, food parcels for a total of 9,665 adults and children were provided in the last year. Your donations will be used to buy the food to be distributed, directly helping those in need.
